Graduate Assistantships
PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT AND MENTORSHIP
Graduate Assistantships provide students an opportunity to work within the Public Health Education department. Work assignments vary but can include the opportunity to work closely with faculty mentors/supervisors on research projects, teaching activities, and/or departmental projects.
Assistantships allow students to develop professional relationships and skills under the mentorship of UNCG faculty and they offer another window into public health teaching, practice and research. Each year, a limited number of graduate assistantships are available to the most highly qualified applicants to the MPH program based on previous public health-related work experience and an exceptional academic profile (course grades, GPA, research experience).
ELIGIBILITY
- Admitted as a full-time, degree-seeking student with full graduate status.
- Grade Point Average (GPA) of 3.0 or greater
- Admitted without provisions.
WORKLOAD
- Assistantships carry a workload of 20 hours/week* averaged over the time of the appointment.
- Work hours can vary with some weeks requiring lighter workload and others requiring a heavier workload
- Students are expected to be available on-site in Greensboro Monday through Friday.
- Some assistantships require weekend and evening work as long as this work does not conflict with class meeting times.
* Assistantships with fewer hours and lower stipends may be available on a case-by-case basis
APPLICATIONS
Applicants who meet the qualifications should indicate their interest on the application for admission and will be invited to apply for a graduate assistantship by the Associate Director of Graduate Study. Your application for admission must be completed (transcripts, and recommendations must be received) by the February 1 deadline to be considered for an assistantship.
